Rootball Anchor Installation Instructions

1. Check the kit is complete with 3 x S21 anchors, 2metres x 2mm galvanised cable, 1 x ratchet tensioner and 3 x Plati-Mats.

2. Allow clearance around and above the rootball.

3. Position the anchors equally around the rootball as close to the base as possible (2 anchors on the side of the prevailing wind). Place the Plati-Mat on the rootball to form triangle with each point leading to an anchor.

4. Using the HDRS2 hand drive rod and hammer, drive the anchor vertically until the eye reaches two thirds of the way down the rootball (sandy soils) or to the bottom of the pit (clay soils).

5. Remove the drive rod from the body of the anchor

6. IMPORTANT! Using PH0 Plati-Hook, pull upwards on the cable to loadlock the anchor into its working position. Repeat steps , 4, 5 & 6 on the two remaining anchors.

7. Lace the galvanised cable through each eye and over the Plati-Mat ensuring both loose ends of the cable end up parallel to each other on one side.

8. Place the ratchet tensioner body over the two parallel ends of galvanised cable.

9. Locate ratchet tensioner wheel into the hole of the ratchet tensioner body. Note tensioner wheel is flat on one side. IMPORTANT! Ensure both wires are located inside the slot in the wheel.

10. Using the PH0 Plati-Hook spanner wind the tendon onto the tensioner to tighten the system. Adjust the cable until tight all round and ensure the Plati-Mat beds down correctly on rootball.

11. Trim any excess wire close to the tensioner before final tensioning.

12. Backfill the tree pit with soil or compost. Mark the location of tensioner as, due to settlement, re- tensioning may be necessary 2 - 3 days after planting.
