Your Pre-Christmas Checklist

We are offering some sound pre-Christmas crime prevention advice:

  1. Check that your security lights around the house are all in good working order and your alarm is serviced.
  2. Make sure all your garden furniture and leisure equipment is securely stored away in your garage or secure shed for the winter
  3. Don't store existing or new bikes in the garage or shed without making sure they are securely fixed with a Shed Shackle, chain and good padlock
  4. Also get them property marked before you gift them
  5. Make sure your shed is well secured with a good shed bar - and DON'T use the shed to store or hide valuable Christmas presents from the prying eyes of children - THE THIEVES KNOW YOU DO THAT AND IT’S THE FIRST PLACE THEY CHECK
  6. If visiting relatives or returning from shopping don't leave presents on the back seats of the car whilst parked in your driveway - put them in the boot and lock the gates behind you when parking in the drive.
  7. Make sure your perimeter is secure and fencing is in good order
  8. Check your insurance cover and update your inventory - download FREE from our website.

Tommy T-Leaf busy shopping for Christmas

Despite the onset of darker nights and wintry conditions, there is no reduction in garden activity - so far as garden thieves are concerned! During recent weeks there has been a spate of varied and expensive thefts from gardens across the country, including 20 separate thefts of York paving stones in Surrey, a valuable Libert Sundial in West Sussex and three separate thefts of Staddle Stones in Harrogate, Salisbury and Oxford. Our most effective advice at this time of year is to be extra vigilant and to spend a few moments reviewing the basic precautions outlined in our Prevention, Retrieval and Garden Antiques
